Last week me and my team were blessed with a change of scenery. Me, Laura, Krista, Karson, and Cherub Grace spent a week in a little village called Teupacenti about 3 1/2 hours away from Tegucigalpa where we live. Traveling in Honduras is an adventure in itself. Our week started by us running down the road with all of our stuff to catch the first bus, then we took a taxi to get to the bus station, then got on another bus for 3 hours to get the village. When we arrived at the village, our whole team instantly fell in love. It was so small and rural, but not so rural that they were living in dirt houses. Legit cowboys still exist in this village because a lot of men travel by horses. It’s awesome. There were random horses, donkeys, and chickens everywhere so it was really fun to walk around. Also, we were woken up every morning by about 1,000 roosters. Actually the first morning we were woken up by a chicken actually coming into our room… so needless to say, there was rarely a dull moment last week. What stuck out to our team the most though was how we felt the presence of the Holy Spirit everywhere we went. He was just guiding our every step, and from the first night we were there the Lord started doing incredible things around us, in us, and through us. There are so many things about this village that I want to share, along with many experiences but I will narrow it down to a moment where God spoke to me the most. All week we were working with an elementary school in the mornings, and then with a soccer team in the afternoons. At the elementary school we would lead them in songs and then teach them a bible story and do a craft. With the soccer team We would just hang out at there practices and one of us would share our testimony with the whole team. At the elementary school we got to know the kids pretty well, and we all became friends. One morning, after we were done sharing the bible story the teacher came up and started sharing how she wanted the class to pray over this little boy named Orlin. He was suffering from an infection in his foot that had spread up his leg, making him feel awful. Orlin was at school that day because he was excited to see what the white ladies were Going to do with the class and he didn’t want to miss it. He was doing a really good job at hiding how sick he felt, but as soon as the teacher had mentioned it to the class he just walked to his seat and tears started falling down his face. At that moment when I looked at him my heart instantly broke. We prayed over him, and afterwards Cherub, Krista, and Laura went on to teach the other class while me and Karson stayed to keep praying over Orlin. We layed him down on the bench and put a rag on his head, because his fever was sky high. This whole time I was just crying over him, because I wish I could explain the look on his face. The Lord just allowed me to resonate with how much this little boy was hurting, and there was little to nothing I could do about it. And while I was hit with how much he was hurting, it occurred to me how many other kids at the school felt just as bad he did, with no one to take care of them. It was like in that moment God reminded me why I was even in Honduras. I was reminded of all the hurt that is in this country that is so easy to overlook some how. My heart broke as I sat with this little boy, crying over him for about an hour and just praying over him. Because with Jesus inside of us, we have a remedy to cure this hurt. Yes, Orlins pain was physical but I know that there is much more than that. Praise the Lord, the next day Orlin was back at school completely healed. Now I am just praying that the Lord keeps my eyes open to hurting Hondurans that just need the love of Jesus.

I miss all of you dearly, and I am hoping to post pictures soon! Also, sorry because I didnt have time to proof read this blog. But I love you all so much, and am so thankful for your support. If you have any questions or need me to be praying for anything, please send me a message on facebook!

  1. Kaci, I am so touched by your story of Orlin and after talking with you yesterday I can feel how God is knitting you girls together for his purpose. I pray for you almost constantly, also for Krista, Karson, Laura, and Cherub Grace. I can’t wait to hear how the Lord uses you next! I love you so very much! In His Grip, Mom
